Durham Tourism Social Media Management.
Durham Tourism’s social media accounts are a go-to resource for things to do in Durham Region. This project includes ongoing content creation, daily monitoring and responding to inquiries, creating and scheduling content, sharing stakeholder news and events, and coordinating advertising campaigns and influencer projects that align with the brand’s principles.
My role: As the project lead, I manage Durham Tourism's Instagram and Facebook accounts, and content schedule for both organic and paid campaigns, while adhering to the Region of Durham’s social media terms of use.
Invest Durham & Durham Tourism Web Content & Blog Management.
The Invest Durham and Durham Tourism websites are important online resources for tourism visitation and investment attraction. This project involved the creation of a blog schedule to organize content by season, relevance and newsworthiness; ongoing blog writing; ensuring web content accuracy; and, managing projects with contractors and stakeholders.
My role: As the content lead, I assist in managing the online presence for the Invest Durham and Durham Tourism websites through ongoing page updates, blog writing, contracting blog writers and managing an editorial schedule for our Invest Durham, Durham Tourism and Downtowns of Durham blogs.
Invest Durham & Durham Tourism Monthly E-newsletters.
The Economic Development & Tourism division has four monthly e-newsletters tailored to a specific external audience—investors and entrepreneurs, visitors and residents, tourism operators, and agri-businesses. This project involves ongoing content management through a collaborative editorial schedule, editorial review, social media sharing, and web updates.
My role: As the project lead, I created and introduced a streamlined process for the division’s four external e-newsletters, redesigned each e-newsletter to incorporate brand elements, and oversee their monthly development and deployment to ensure information is accurate and aligns with brand values.
Social Media Collaborations & Influencer Projects.
Durham Tourism works with influencers on social media to promote Durham Region as an “insta-worthy” destination through a diverse representation of visitors and experiences. This includes creating and promoting day trip itineraries, overnight getaways, must-try experiences, and regional good news stories that align with annual campaigns and brand principles.
My role: As the project lead, I organize and coordinate content projects by managing a budget for influencer projects, creating content trip itineraries, and coordinating with influencers, locally owned businesses and trusted partners to bring each project to life.
Durham Tourism Social Media Giveaway Strategy.
Durham Tourism’s annual social media giveaway schedule and strategy strengthens quality of place, drives local spending, and helps local businesses grow online. Giveaways are tailored to diverse audiences by promoting attractions and experiences that align with brand principles and ensuring representation from locally owned businesses across Durham’s eight local municipalities.
My role: As the project lead, I created a contest rules and regulations template with the Region’s Legal department, and on an ongoing basis manage the annual giveaway schedule, create and publish social media contests online, coordinate purchasing prize items, organize pick up for the giveaway winner, and report on giveaway results.
